Overview

Catch up on this dynamic symposium from Heart Failure 2025, now available on demand, as Dr Kieran Docherty (University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK), Prof Clara Saldarriaga (CardioVID Clinic, Medellin, CO) and Prof Gianluigi Savarese (Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, SE) dive into the complexities of treating patients with both heart failure and chronic kidney disease. Through expert conversation and a compelling real-world case, they uncover why delivering guideline-directed medical therapy remains such a challenge in this high-risk group.

Packed with practical insights, this session is built to help cardiologists, nephrologists and internal medicine specialists bridge therapeutic gaps and boost outcomes for patients living with this dual burden.

Your Experience Matters

To ensure our educational activities continue to meet your clinical needs, we would be grateful if you could complete a short survey (it takes less than one minute). Your anonymous input will directly help us refine future programmes and focus on the topics that matter most to your practice.

This satellite symposium is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from AstraZeneca.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss why getting cardiorenal patients onto GDMT is challenging
  • Recall the residual risk posed by the co-existence of heart failure and chronic kidney disease
  • Adopt practical approaches to managing cardiorenal patients based on examples explored during this activity
  • Detail gaps in current standards of care for cardiorenal patients
  • Discuss ongoing efforts aimed at addressing residual risk, hyperkalaemia and clinical inertia in cardiorenal disease
